Metabolon’s Metabolomics Platform: A Single Technology for Understanding Human Health
Metabolon has developed a comprehensive, robust, and unbiased way to identify and quantify both endogenous and exogenous metabolites in a biological sample to advance life science research and biomarker discovery. A challenge of this initiative is the fact that a single sample analyzed using a mass spectrometer often produces tens of thousands of data points, but the actual number of metabolites in the same sample is typically only a couple of thousands. This means the majority of data points are actually extraneous (the result of instrument noise, process artifacts, and redundant ion features). Sifting through those data points to identify relevant metabolites is a laborious and time-consuming process, fraught with the potential for “false positives.”
To overcome this challenge, Metabolon embraces a chemo-centric approach that rapidly and efficiently removes noise and identifies metabolites. Our metabolomics technology automatically compares the generated data against our extensive chemical library to isolate relevant metabolites in a matter of minutes. The result is accurate, reproducible and actionable data that provides a snapshot of health. In the webinar, we also share applications of this technology in precision medicine.
